Mint of Poland wins another contract from Central Bank of the Dominican Republic

The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic has awarded a new contract for the production of circulation coins to the Mint of Poland. Under the contract, with the total value in excess of EUR 12 million, altogether 110 million coins of various denominations will be manufactured in the Company’s state-of-the-art production plant in the Warsaw neighbourhood of Annopol. Another tender victory confirms the Mint of Poland’s strong position in the international markets.

Proven quality

Under the new contract, 25 million and 85 million circulation coins of 5, 10 and 25 pesos denominations will be delivered to the Dominican Republic this and next year, respectively. The total contract value, exceeding EUR 12 million, covers all production costs, including the costs of materials and tools, as well as the costs of packaging, shipping and transportation.

The first contract signed with the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic was for the production of 55 million coins of 5 and 10 pesos and was completed by the Mint of Poland in 2009. The trust built then led to further lucrative orders in the following years. Under the terms of the contract signed last year, another 20 million circulation coins, in addition to the ones commissioned under the contract awarded this year, will be delivered to the South American nation in 2022.

Mint of Poland in the elite group of coin manufacturers for central banks worldwide

In 2021, the Mint of Poland manufactured general circulation coins for the central banks of such South American countries as the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Paraguay and Colombia. Moreover, an agreement was signed with the Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank of the Republic of Nepal, under which a total of 300 million circulation coins will be delivered over the following three years.
