Mint of Poland Achieves Outstanding Success at Prestigious Mint Directors Conference in Cape Town
The Mint of Poland has achieved remarkable success at the prestigious Mint Directors Conference in Cape Town, securing two awards for its innovative UFO MP-1766 project. Poland's oldest mint received a silver medal in the Best Packaging category and a bronze medal in the Best Collaboration Project category, confirming its position among the world's leading innovative numismatic producers.
The UFO MP-1766 project, which previously garnered significant industry attention during the prestigious World Money Fair 2024 in Berlin, was recognized by an international jury during the MDC Gala, held on April 28, 2025, in Cape Town. This revolutionary seven-ounce coin made of the highest-grade silver is the world's first coin capable of levitating thanks to a motor hidden inside and an electromagnetic field. Despite its non-standard form, it remains legal tender and additionally glows in the dark through the application of UV-cured fluorescent paint, representing a genuine breakthrough in minting artistry.
Space-Age Technology Recognized by International Jury
In the Best Packaging category, the Mint of Poland secured second place for the futuristic packaging of the UFO MP-1766 coin. The jury appreciated its advanced construction made of durable wood covered with a 3D-printed surface that emulates the aesthetics of a spacecraft. The integrated magnetic levitation system allows the coin to hover inside the box, simulating the effect of a flying UFO.
In the Best Collaboration Project category, the Polish mint took third place for its collaboration with SINGLET Company and HCNT Levitation on the UFO MP-1766 project. SINGLET Company was responsible for designing the packaging structure utilizing neodymium magnets, while HCNT Levitation conducted comprehensive testing to ensure appropriate strength and stability of the magnets required to support the seven-ounce coin in mid-air.
