The Mint of Poland has won ‘The Best of Industry 4.0’ award in the ‘Production Plant’ category. This has once again proved that the company can successfully combine the best traditions of the ‘Mint of Poland’ brand boasting a 255-year history with a pro-active response to modern-day challenges. On behalf of the Mint of Poland, the award was accepted at the official gala by CEO Katarzyna Budnicka.

Mint of Poland’s plant is the best production plant

Every month, the Mint of Poland carries out dozens of projects, both for the domestic market and for foreign contractors, in its core business segment. Each of these projects requires from several up to even several hundred operations. Their efficient execution is ensured by IPOsystem, an intelligent production organization system for modern factories using an autonomous decision-making digital robot. It allows all orders to be carried out right on time without the involvement of planners or direct supervisors.

It was the implementation of this innovative system by the Mint of Poland that secured ‘The Best of Industry 4.0’ award for the Company’s production plant. ‘The Best of Industry 4.0’ is part of the ‘Polish Industry 4.0’ conference, presenting the latest and most interesting technologies and trends in industry, which was held on 4-5 October.

Artificial intelligence in support of modern production plants

The Mint of Poland has been using the intelligent production organization system, which relies on artificial intelligence to manage the work of people and machines, since 2017. The IPOsystem uses sophisticated AI algorithms for real-time reaction to any unexpected scenarios, such as the absence of an employee or the temporary exclusion of a machine from the production process. At the same time, it allows managers to keep a close eye on the progress of the project, the status of materials and the workload of employees.

After the implementation, those employees who were previously responsible for scheduling the work of people employed at the plant were delegated to other duties while all employees operating the system received specialised training on how to use it. In this way, even in times of many dynamic changes, the Mint of Poland is able to guarantee reliability and security of order delivery for all its business partners.
