New Circulation Coin Series for Namibia – Mennica Polska [Mint of Poland] as a Partner in a Project of National Importance
Mennica Polska [Mint of Poland] has produced a new circulation coin series for the Bank of Namibia – the first comprehensive redesign of the country’s monetary system since 1993, with both technological and symbolic significance.
The official launch took place during the Bank’s 35th anniversary celebrations, attended by the highest state authorities, including Her Excellency, Hon. Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the President of Namibia. Mennica Polska [Mint of Poland] was represented by Mr. Siemowit Kalukiewicz, Member of the Management Board, and Ms. Agnieszka Zganiacz, Director of the Sales Department.
Partnership and Innovation
The series, titled Pillars of the Namibian Economy, includes five denominations: 10, 20, and 50 cents, as well as 1 and 5 Namibian dollars. Each coin represents one of the pillars of the national economy: agriculture, renewable energy, tourism, retail trade, and mining. The new coins are lighter, more durable, and easier to use, with a modern design that reflects the aspirations of a dynamically developing Namibia. All denominations were produced in accordance with the highest quality standards, and the 5 Namibia Dollar coin features an advanced angle effect – an innovative security element developed by Mennica Polska [Mint of Poland].
The company was also responsible for preparing promotional and educational materials supporting the Bank’s nationwide information campaign, with a strong focus on inclusivity, security, and financial literacy.
Special thanks go to Mr. Ebson Uanguta, Deputy Governor and Executive Member of the Board, and Ms. Sencia Kaizemi-Rukata, Director of the Currency Management and Banking Operations, for their trust and excellent cooperation.
