Description

“The Slav’s Traditions” is a series of beautiful silver collector coins dedicated to major Slavic customs. Each coin depicts a custom and a symbol characteristic for an important, breakthrough period in every Slav’s life. The issuer of the series is the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, and the manufacturer and distributor is the Mint of Poland. “Fatherhood” is the sixth coin in the series which previously featured the following coins:  “Wedding”, “Housewarming”, “Christening”, “Coming of Age” and “Motherhood”.

In Slavic culture, apart from the tradition of motherhood, the tradition of fatherhood is of great importance. According to Slavs, a man should beget a child, build a house and plant a tree, which means that masculinity and fatherhood are associated with the duties of the role of the head of the family, responsibility for safety, also material, and its members.
