Honeybees live in swarms. The average population of a healthy hive in midsummer may vary between 40,000 and 80,000 individuals, including the queen, hundreds of drones and thousands of busy worker bees. Honeybees forage for nectar and pollen; the latter is collected in special pollen baskets on the rear legs of the insect. In order to fill it, a bee needs to visit up to 100 flowers. It is worth mentioning that one comb cell contains as many as 20 pollen baskets! Bees collect nectar from around 4 million flowers to produce 1 kilogram of honey. Their efforts are invaluable. We are all beneficiaries of their hard daily work. Although they are mainly associated with the production of wax and honey, the environmentalists point out that 30% of food production and 90% of  fruit harvest depends on the pollination by these tireless insects.
